Bourne Sam

The Righteous Men

HarperCollins, London 2006

Galbraith3

Again a thriller, that is praised as “The biggest challenger to Dan Brown´s crown”. Although I fancy this phrase, the book is nothing like it.

Instead, it´s a crude mix of lecturing about Jewish religion and traditions and a hair-raising plot, which is not really worth talking about. In the end it´s the bad white extremists, who want to put an end to the world by killing off all the “righteous men” of Jewish lore. As long as one of them lives, the saying goes, God will not destroy the world.

This story  is but a distant echo of the brilliant German novel “Die Suche nach den Gerechten” by Bernhard Setzwein. But I´m sure, Bourne has no idea of its existence or he would not have written his book.
